PERFORMANCE
I
perform with the bands The
Afterlife, Brokeback, and The Loudness War,
and as a solo singer-songwriter. You can hear
samples of my music on my MySpace
page. You can also buy songs from
my six-track EP on iTunes.
(Thanks to one little word in the song "Practice,"
the whole EP is listed as Explicit, but what are
you gonna do?)
In
Chicago, I've performed at Elbo Room, Underground
Lounge, Holiday, Uncommon Ground, and Argo Tea;
as an opening act for Tantalus Theatre and Thunder
& Lightning Ensemble; at several benefit concerts
and events; and in Colonel Ritter's Spectacular
Hour of Wonderment. I've also accompanied private
parties and one incredibly sweet marriage proposal.
(She said yes.)
To be honest, the
lines between music, writing, and performance
get somewhat blurry for me. I have written and
arranged songs for shows in which I was acting:
these things are tough to classify.
Recently
I've played in a number of shows that either count
as outright musicals or underscore the action
with live music:
| Hey!
Mr. Spaceman! |
Acoustic guitar
and keyboard in five-piece rock band |
Strange
Tree Group |
| The
Ballad of the Sad Cafe |
Acoustic guitar and vocals
in three-piece jug band |
Signal
Ensemble Theatre |
| The
Mysterious Elephant |
Acoustic guitar and ukulele |
Strange Tree Group |
SCORING
AND ARRANGEMENT

on Practical Anatomy,
for which I wrote book, lyrics, and (with
Ethan Balis) score.)
